This amazing liquid gold is filled with antibodies and anti-inflammatory components that can be applied to a number of health issues for the entire family!
The amazing facts of breastmilk
It contains antibodies to help baby fight off viruses and bacteria while their immune systems are still developing. This means that they are less likely to have asthma or allergies, and chances of getting infections are lower. But other than it being food for your baby, this incredible liquid can also act as treatment to a variety of health ailments as well! Best bit? It’s free!
1. Eye infections
A few drops of breastmilk into eyes is said to soothe eyes affected by conjunctivitis and unclog tear ducts. Of course, check with your doctor to see if the problem is anything more serious than the regular gunky eyes.
2. Cradle cap
If your baby has this issue and nothing seems to be working for your baby, you might want to give breastmilk a try. Massage a few drops of breastmilk around the affected areas on the scalp and wait for the results!
3. Cuts and scrapes
If you have a toddler, you can try applying some breastmilk on their cuts and scrapes. Be sure to clean the wound up first though.
4. Sore nipples
My lactation consultant recommended soothing sore nipples with a few drops of breastmilk. Simple squeeze out a little milk and spread it around the nipple. It worked for me! I didn’t have to use any sort of nipple butter or lotion.
5. Rashes and itchy skin
Diaper rash and insect bites can be soothed with the healing properties of breastmilk, which can help the irritation.
6. Baby acne
Some mothers I know swear by this! A few drops of breastmilk on baby’s skin can help bring down the redness and speed up recovery.
